The Woodens River Watershed Environmental Organisation (WRWEO) celebrates its 15th Annual General Meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday evening, March 2, at 7 pm at the Tantallon Public Library, located at Exit 5 on Highway 103, 3646 Hammonds Plains Road. (Nova Scotia).
Registration begins at 6:30 pm. All are welcome.
Our keynote speaker is Garnet McLaughlin who will talk about the theme of this year’s meeting: The Future of The Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail – How To Keep It Wild, Inspiring, and Safe. Garnet, who is regarded by many as the premier wilderness trail specialist in the Province, is an inspiring speaker. He has revolutionized wilderness trail management in Nova Scotia by re-introducing the ancient techniques of stone tread construction, used on 42 sites on our trail. Besides running his company, Cobequid Trail Consulting, he leads two volunteer community trail groups in Nova Scotia.
Registration begins at 6:30 pm. Membership remains $10. The business part of the meeting is expected to be 45 minutes and will focus on reports on (1) The Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail, (2) the much anticipated protection of the Five Bridges Lakes Wilderness Area (more than 20,000 acres of wilderness that includes the trail), and (3) aquatic habitat and water quality in the Woodens River Watershed. There will also an election of the new board. Nominations can come from the floor.
