Cycling this highway route is a hilly adventure pass beaches, little cliffs, bakery, the sweetest general store and a lovely cafe. I did it with my eleven year old daughter, we meandered for a few days there and back and had just a lovely time. Bring a camera the scenery is spectacular.

Directions:

You can start anywhere on the Lighthouse route including Lunenburg where you will cycle to the LaHave cable ferry take a left off the ferry in LaHave and make a bee line to the Bakery! Devour you pizza, sweet squares and follow the rickety stairs up to the skateboard shop or visit the craft co op full of local artists works. Make your way to Dublin Shore and turn left on Bells Cove Road to explore some little caves tucked in the rocks. Continue up the road to the wall of rock where you can climb and explore the sweet creek. Ride on to Crescent Beach and if you have the time continue on Crescent Beach road to the islands, cross the bridges and explore the little inlets and fishing nooks. Back on the 331 just down the road is Rissers Beach with summer facilities including campgrounds, washrooms and showers. It is a long stretch of warm golden sand stretching out to the Petite River. Ride on over the Petite Bridge to the General Store, very quaint and they sell ice cream! Just beyond the store is a hill and I did notice a few black flies, maybe I was peddling too slow. When you reach Broad Cove turn left and continue on Bear Trap road, all the way down to find a gorgeous trail, the fire pit is a good place to camp, this is a difficult stretch and to bypass it hang out on Broad Cove Beach, where you will meet all the neighbourhood dogs, they are friendly and awesome, (so are the people). And if it is summer swim out and look for seals. Eat, drink and play checkers in the Broad Cove Cafe, just beyond the beach on the highway. We saw eagles, seal, porcupine and a wee mouse on this trip in May.
