The wentworth trails have probably been made more popular by mouintain biking, but are great for hiking too by summer, and xc skiing and snowshoeing come winter. It's a perfect place for orienteering practice as well, and may be a spot where that is taught.

The trails are well marked in terms of signage, but anyone with little sense for direction can quickly get disoriented.

It's a great spot for wildlife, and on the occasions I've been there, I've seen deer, an owl, and what appeared to be bear prints.

This set of trails is situated next to the Hostel facility. In the region is the wentworth ski hill offering several runs ans a few quad chair lifts.

Directions:

Travelling from Moncton, take exit 7 at Mahoney's Corner. Travelling from Truro, take exit 11 to Folley Lake.

Hostel Downside Poorly marked and maintained Comment Just finished a couple of hours of exploration of the area. It's early July and the mosquitos, black flies and horseflies are in full regalia... which made for a rather poor experience. I think that the bugs eat DEET for breakfast around here. I'd not ride here during the summer months again; hold off till' the Fall.

The trails themselves are only (very, if at all) roughly maintained. Don't let the fact that this trail network is so close to a hostel fool you into thinking that the trails get TLC - they most defined do not.

The hostel staff are too busy going about the business of running the hostel to do trail-work. As such, signage and trail clearing / pruning and (re)signage are gravely in need here.

Would rate this trail experience as a 4/10. Bummer, as I had high hopes for the area.

Off to Halifax's 'Fight Trail' I go!
