Upsideclearwater lake has lots of campgrounds that can be used for a lunch stop before heading back on a day trip. we rented a canoe at the campground and spent a day paddling around clearwater lake. what a sweet day. Downsidethis lake can be busy with motorboats, and i think there is a tour boat that leaves a big wake. and dont expect to have a campground to yourself for your lunch. some convenient ones are popular day trip turn arounds, especially on nice weekends. Commentwhat a sweet trip. cheap wood at the campgrounds (but not free!) and not too much traffic made for a great long weekend.

UpsideAzure Lake is about the most beautiful mountain ringed lake I've ever enjoyed. A true jewel that really isn't that difficult to get to and you are guaranteed not to find noisy campers or crowds. Last time a checked, there is a ferry (houseboat) service available from Clearwater Lake onto Azure if prefered over paddling up current. They hauled canoes for us. Lots of camping options. DownsideYou have to eventually leave. Be cautious for bears on the short portage between the lakes. Make noise until you're back in the canoe and paddling. CommentMy last trip up there was 15 years ago or so, but the pictures above show little has changed. I believe there were 16 of us and we didn't even make a dent on a campsite at the east end of Azure.
