Travelling over 300 kilometres over the course of 13 days, this trip is ideal for the novice canoeist in search of wildlife encounters and spectacular Yukon scenery.
The journey begins on aptly named Quiet Lake, winds down the Big Salmon River through the Salmon Mountains to the Yukon River. Hiking trips into the mountains and creek valleys can round out an exciting river journey. The tour ends in Carmacks or Little Salmon Village on the Yukon River where there is good road access to the river.
This trip is one of my favourite, because it offers some of the best scenery, provides many opportunities for wildlife sightings and great fishing.
You need to organize transportation from Whitehorse to Quiet Lake and back from Carmacks/Little Salmon Village via a local Canoe Rental Service (UpNorth, Kanoe People) or you can also go with a local Tour Company (Ruby Range Adventure) to get the hole trip organized and equipped.
