Since Morice River has the forestry road on the river right the whole way, car shuttling is probably the best option to get in & out. For those who want more exercise... you could leave a bike at the take out & cycle back to your vehicle.
Put in at Lamprey Creek Rec Site. It takes about 2 1/2 hrs to get to Owen Flats Rec Site. Owen Flats camp isn't too launch friendly but there is a major clearing and boat launch just downriver. This section is class 1-2.
Owen Flats to Aspen Rec site takes about 2 hours. The canyon is class 2-3, otherwise the rest is class 1-2. Take out at Aspen Rec Site on river right. Aspen camp is an excellent place to stay but sometimes busy with fishermen.
This is a nice "float" with minor manuvering for sweepers, rocks, haystacks, and fishermen. The canyon just below Owen Flats is the most exciting part of the trip (stay river right). Great run for learning whitewater. As
for wildlife: deer, moose, birds, bears, etc.
Directions:
The river is actually closest to Houston, B.C. Drive West of town and turn South on Morice River Forestry Rd. Aspen Rec site is about km 18. Turn right when Morice River Rd. meets Morice/Owen Rd. (Owen Flats is close to the Owen/Morice junction). Lamprey is about km 44. I'm guestimating these km's, but you can't miss them.
