A nice day-hike to the summit plateau of Mt White. Good views of Little Atlin lake and may see a few mountain goats on this peak. The tower is at 8V 557439 6685368. There are many small lakes and rocky outcrops. The true summit is some distance across the plateau and will be a longer hike(up to 10 km return trip and up to 6 hours). Follow the ridges northeast to explore further.
Drive 78km east of Whitehorse to Jakes Corner on the Alaska highway. Turn south to the Atlin road and follow it for 8km (do not turn off towards Tagish). A gravel road on the east side of the road leads to a gravel pit for parking. Trail starts here, cross creek, head uphill and follow steep sections to the shoulder of ridge along the cable of the tower. Communication tower is reached in 2km.
