The Pine Cobble Trail offers one of the coolest views of the Hoosic River Valley. It is very close to the Williams College Campus (also worth walking through). It is called the Pine Cobble Trail because of the huge outcrop of quartzite bedrock at the top which can be seen from the valley floor on a sunny day.

Directions:

By car- take MA 2 East from the intersection with Route 7 at the Williams College Inn in Williamstown. Turn Left onto Cole Ave. Cross a bridge over the Hoosic River. Turn Right over North Hoosic Road. Continue on Cole's Grove Road around a gate and into the Pine Cobble Development. Turn Right at the mailboxes and the trailhead is 300 yards on the left.
