Hi there,

Is the trail to elfin lakes through avalanche terrain? Did you bring beacons/shovels etc when you went?

Yes. There is some avalanche terrain. The winter route goes along a treed ridge that can get lots of snow. Not likely, from what I've heard. But possible.

Most of the trail is mild except for 1-2 places.

If it is a huge fresh snowfall and dangerous avalanche day, just go over the top of Paul Ridge (its a plateau) and avoid the ridges.
