The Bur Oak trail is located on the south side of Birds Hill Park and provides excellent riding only 20 minutes from Winnipeg. The trail is mostly well drained but does offer some roots, mud and fun in the lower, more difficult sections.
There are a variety of narrow single track trails ranging from easy to moderate (difficult for a beginner). The trail is twisty and often winds back on itself. Keeping to the right, when doing the loop counter clockwise, will take you into the more difficult lower sections. Staying to the left will keep you on the upper easy loop. Including all the difficult sections will provide a ride that is 7.5 km long
Stay on the single track as poison ivy is rampant right beside the trail! Tall socks can be an asset here.
When entering the park from Hwy 59 you will make a slow steady climb up the hill. Stay to the right at the first fork in the road (South Drive, click on map to see full map). Then take the first right off the main park loop (sign designates #7 point of interest) and park in the designated parking lot. There is a washroom and fire pits for a bbq, and a rain shelter. There is an asphalt walking loop and the mountain bike loop starts on a small hill behind the rain shelter (this is the counter clockwise direction).

UpsideGreat single track trail with a variety of terrain and ranging difficulties. DownsideBeware of people biking the opposite way on the trail, If you come hauling around a corner and someones biking the opposite direction, your in for a world of hurt. CommentAwesome trail, beware of other trail riders.
