Some interesting scenery. Good for people who like to trail blaze through areas that are not visited by others (especially the wide open tundra near the Aviation Museum). Horses used by the Mounties are also meandering nearby at the RCMP grounds. Downside Lots of crappy areas that require you to remove your skis (ice, road crossings etc...), also lots of confusing areas for cross country skiers if nobody has come before them and laid tracks. Comment This trail is obviously MEANT for CYCLISTS primarily. It is challenging for a cross country skier, not in the physical sense, but in the navigational sense.

If you want to cross country ski this trail get somebody to drop you off on Montreal road at the Pizza Hut and go from there. We did the entire trail and had to "make up" half of it as we went along as nobody had been there previously. Luckily we ended up finding the trailhead again by accident along the Rockcliffe (Sir Geore Etienne) Parkway.

This trip was all about blasting a trail through untouched powder (quad workout!) and sking along the roadside in plowed mountains on an angle for a couple of clicks.
