A short, steep hike in Tombstone Park to reach the summit of this peak next to the Dempster Highway. The access is easy and hiking starts at 4300 ft with a minimum of travel in brush. The trail ascends rocky slopes to a large summit ridge with excellent views to Tombstone peak and the Dempster highway. This is a popular hike for most people who stay at the Tombstone campground at km 71.5 . Excellent sunset watching occurs anywhere along the trail or from the top - after 10pm in August.
Drive to km 74.4 of the Dempster Highway north of Dawson City. Turn right onto the microwave tower access road. Park near the tower and start on the well-used trail heading towards the ridge. The trail gains 510 m (1670 ft) to the top of the mountain at 1830 m (6000 ft).

UpsideOne of only two marked trails (read "no bushwack!") in the Tombstones; choose your own adventure as you approach the spires. Nice views all around. CommentThe trail disappears once you hit steeper scree - it's scramblers paradise from here. All sorts of ways to get to the ridge, or the top, and back down again. Sure footing and common sense is all you need.
