Nice hike to the top of a ridge full of rocky outcrops, castellations and views of the Dempster in all directions. Elevation gain: 310m (1000ft)Maximum elevation reached is 920m (3010 ft). Rocky scrambling will get you to the top of some outcrops. You can get great photos of the views framed by these towers. A lovely evening hike if you're camped at the territorial campground below. Below is a view of Engineer creek, coloured red from the iron deposits in the water.
At 194.5 km on the Dempster highway, just north of the Engineer creek campground. Parking spot just past the bridge. Trail starts above the parking in the forest, well-used and mostly cleared of branches. Heading uphill in the spruce you will reach rock towers. A path leads up between some of these to the ridge, where you can continue to various view points, following a number of pathways.
