This trail is located at Highwood Pass (the highest drivable pass in Canada!). Interpretive trail starts at the (southwest) part of the parking area. Keep walking straight onto the boardwalk where the trail branches off to Ptarmigan Cirque.
From Hwy 1, take the Hwy 40 exit and head south for 67.3 km. Hang a right into the Highwood Meadows/Ptarmigan Cirque parking area.

UpsideThis trail gives you a lot of pay off for little effort. The trail itself is easy and the views are spectacular. The colors of the meadow are amazing. DownsideThe trail can be busy and there is a lot of bear activity in the area so there are closures on the trail quite often. To get away from the crowd I recommend heading up the trail to the scree fields of Mount Rae for an amazing view and some peace and quiet. CommentI loved every second of this hike. The meadows are so pretty they remind me of something out of a fairy tail. The hike up to the bottom of the scree fields is fun and there is a great place to picnic and enjoy the view. I highly recommend to hikers of all skill levels.

UpsideA short and easy interpretive trail that provides access to alpine meadows. This trail is also wheelchair accessible. DownsideThis trail can get crowded and if you want a nice long hike, this is not the trail for you. CommentThis is a great trail for anyone travelling along Highway 40 in Kananaskis Country. Not only is it for people of all abilities, but it provides views of beautiful scenery as well as excellent interpretive signs about the Highwood Pass environment.
