The south ridge and eastern slopes off Cayoosh Mountain are close enough to the road to be accessible for day trips. Whilst the open slopes are prone to avalanche, when stable this area provides great skiing, with spectacular views of Mt Rohr to the east, and the gnarly ridge lines of the Place Glacier Group to the west.

This area can be skied as a part of the Cayoosh-Marriott Loop, linking the equally rewarding ski slopes of the Marriott Basin.

The Duffy Lake Road descends from Cayoosh Pass to a bridge crossing Cayoosh Creek. A half km before the bridge there is space on the South side of the road to park a half dozen cars. Park here, and cross the road where a logging road heads up right, following north above the western banks of Cayoosh Creek.

After a brief climb take the right fork in the road, passing through a treed section for a few kilometers. The road ends below a long clearcut.

Climb up through the clearcut to reach another logging road above. Follow this road contouring the hillside to the SW. Pass through a short line of trees to a boulder field on the other side. Cross and climb the boulder field, passing through very tight trees about halfway up the slope.

On the other side of the trees a long valley climbs SW towards the south ridge of Cayoosh Mountain. On the way there is good skiing from a small col on the left, though these slopes are often very unpredictable.

To gain the north peak of Cayoosh Mountain, climb steeply north through the trees to gain an easter ridge coming off the south peak. Follow the ridge up, skirting north around the southern peak to aproach the north peak from the saddke between the two peaks.

To gain the south ridge of Cayoosh Mountain, from the trees after the boulder field follow the valley SE along a small creek, staying left of the trees as the terrain opens. A series of small benches leads up slightly left to the Alpine. The ridge can be easily gained via the left side of rocky outcrop.
