The trailhead is off of Rt 28N about five miles from the town of Newcomb. There is a parking lot that is obscured with trees but you will see a big sign saying ?Goodnow.? The trail starts off slow for about half if the mountain but will start to pick up with some steps of wood and dirt. The trail is no to badly eroded but it is definitely due able. You will start to make a sharper upturn and see a change of trees. There will be more pines. The dirt will start to give away to large patches of rock face and just when you think that you are to the top of the mountain there is a bit more trail that brings you to the tip-top. This is where you will find the elevation marker as well as a fire tower that you can climb. There is also that old fire rangers cabin up there with some old artifacts in it, but people who do not respect this have abused it. From the tower you can see some high peeks as well as Newcomb. There are some lookouts on the way up but now as good as the view from the top of the fire tower. As an added note there are no streams that I can really call stream worthy.
Traveling form Old Forge to Newcomb take 28 to 28n and just before you get to the town of Newcomb you will see the large sign for the mountain.
