In the Five Ponds Wilderness Area of the Adirondacks, the High Falls Loop goes through dozens of beaver damns and beautiful wetlands. Cat Mountain is a day hike from the Trailhead as well as High Falls itself. Very secluded area. Avoid black fly season at all costs!!! Be ready to get feet wet and circumvent the trails that have been flooded from the fantastic beaver damns. September/ October is the best months to go. The Adirondack fall colors are amazing.

Directions:

Trail Head is in Wanakena, NY close to Cranberry Lake, NY
