Hidden in the woods just off the Mohawk River Trail is a secret MTB gem. You have to pay attention to find the entrance to these rooty, rocky, twisty, hilly and FAST trails. "Lock 7," as the trails are called, is part of a nature hiking trail system in Niskayuna, NY (just outside of Albany). Why are they called "Lock 7"? Lock 7 for the Mohawk River is located at this trail site, which is a great place for a cookout after your ride. There are some picnic tables.

Park in the first parking lot on your right just before the bike path that crosses Lock Seven Rd. Take the paved bike path East (or to the Left if you are facing the path from the parking lot). There are three trail entrances on your left as you ride along the bike path. The first one goes uphill, the second one is a wide pathway going into the woods (most people take this one) and then there is a third farther down hidden off the path. Might need a local to show you that one, but if it looks like a trail it probably is...check it out! Third entrance is the best!
