This State Park is easily accessible with lots of great trails for dog walking, nature watching, or just getting a good workout. The trails allow mountain biking, but it is designed for hiking, so it's pretty technical (all bridges have hop-ups etc.) There is a lake for swimming, lots of campsites for overnight trips. Great for kids, and pretty quiet. My favorite trail so far, the Y.C.C. Nature trail follows Willard Brook out into Beaver territory. Look for the beaver signs to send you in the right direction. V. Easy, but lots of fun.

Directions:

From Fitchburg, take John Fitch Hwy to Townsend Rd, Take a right onto Townsend. Townsend Rd Becomes New Townsend Rd once it crosses into Townsend. The Dirt Parking lot (v. well signed) is 10 miles down on the left.
