Experience a deeply cut rock gorge and waterfall that has spectacular ice formations in the winter and spots to cool off in the summer! Beware of the spring black flies. The trail is fairly easy with an uphill climb towards the end and a stream crossing. Once you get to the top, follow the gorge down and meet with the original trail to head back. Along the way, experience a high elevation, sub-boreal forest with lots of sphagnum moss, spruce and fir trees and deep forest plants. This is a great snowshoe trek and is guaranteed to have deep snow often until April! Also recommended for families. Visit the MA DCR website and go to Windsor Jambs State Forest for more info on camping and swimming at the great swimming hole near the park headquarters. Extend your hike from the Jambs and head down Schoolhouse Road from the top of the Jambs to Middle Road-bushwack your way back to River Road. See old cart roads and an 1800's farm site and graveyard.

Directions:

The Jambs trail begins across the street from the campground headquarters and leads you up to the Windsor Jambs. Watch for trail markers as this lower section can be a little confusing. Go to MA DCR website for directions to Windsor Jambs.
