This is a rather rustic pond, not far from the shore in Southern Rhode Island. We camped in Burlingame State Park. This campground is the biggest one I have ever seen. They literally have hundreds of sites. It’s a great place to day trip from. The shore of Rhode Island from Watch Hill to Point Judith is less than 1/2 hour away. If you want to stay close to your tent you can launch your boat from the campground into the adjacent Watchaug Pond. A paddle around the circumference will give you a solid 5 mile paddle. Wind is a factor as you are only a little ways from the ocean and the pond is almost a perfect circle. On one side you will think you are in a bath tub and 10 minutes later you are in big water. We had a very nice paddle.
Burlingame State Park is on RT. 1, about 8 miles east of the CT border and about twice that distance west of the Narragansett area.
