Outer Boston Harbor is one of the finest paddling destinations in Mass. It offers remote islands, a fine view of the city, and challenging paddling conditions.
Leave from the inside of Hull Gut and paddle north through the gut into Boston Harbor. Georges Island is to the north and has the remains of historic Fort Warren, worth the stop to check out. From Georges Island head east past Little Brewster and Boston Light (the oldest continuously operating manned lighthouse in the country) out to the Brewsters.
It's a great trip but conditions can turn rough quickly. Nantasket Rhodes is a busy channel between Hull and Georges Island and requires great care. You should have solid rescue skill, a sea kayak and a competent group to take on this trip. Comfort in rough water and a consistent roll would be highly recomended.
Windmill Point lies at the end of Hull, The boat ramp and parking is across from the high school.
