This area is located in the southeastern section of the Holyoke Range State Park. The trail described here follows an old logging road that is relatively easy to navigate. The trail is mostly level as you leave the Parking Area. Take a right at the first Y intersection, go over a small brook, and begin to climb up a gentle but rocky slope. At the top, take the trail on the left to connect to the Lower Access Trail. This is a slightly challenging trail for the beginner because it has narrow passes and rocky descents. Once at the bottom, take a left onto the Lower Access Trail back to the Parking Area.

Grab a trail map at the Notch Visitors Center for more challenging options.

Directions:

From Amherst take 116 South, pass the Notch Vistitors Center on the left, take a left onto Amherst St., take a left on Bachelor St., parking area on left.
