This is a very steep hike, the trail follows alongside an old arial tramline that leads up to a fire tower at the top.

The climb is very direct and goes up inside a gully most of the way. The effort is worth it as the views open up on the barren rocky top and you can see the entire Dezadeash river valley and the mountains of Kluane Park. Dezadeash Lake is way off in the distance.

The man in the fire tower is usually very friendly, he is happy to see a visitor up there. This summer was very cool, rainy and quite cloudy, so no forest fires in the area, and sometimes the clouds cover most of the views.

Directions:

Drive about 4 km north of Haines Junction on hwy 1, and turn left at the road just before the Pine Lake campsite.

Follow this road about 2km around the lake to the north side below the cliffs. Park before the access roads start to private cabins on the lake. The trail is up to your left and is easy to follow.

The view is similar to the highway view, just improved. Highway and radio tower noises, ridiculously steep trail. Comment I found the description very confusing. Park at the end of the road, despite the Private Property sign, ignoring the turn-off to the rest of the subdivision. The trailhead is visible. The trail does not go up a gully, but instead provides views most of the way up. There is an unmarked junction about 1/3 of the way up, where you'll see cables along the ground. Go right. Left dead ends. It is VERY steep though and extremely dusty, so don't go up without considering what you'll have to come down. This trail probably sees no more than a group a week.
