This trail has many possible starting options. My favorite is to start with the animals. My last visit there were sheep and goats that come greet you hoping for a treat. The trail starts as mowed grass and travels by the fenced farm animals eventually out to Barnstable Harbor with beautiful views across to Sandy Neck. The different trails are well-maintained and marked. They all eventually go to the same places: the visitor center, the road, and the parking lot with animals.
Exit 6 to exit 6 to route 6A east. Follow for a short ways looking on the left for a white sign for "Harbor Point" restaurant. There may be a small Mass Audubon sign but I can't confirm if its still there. Anyway, take a left and when the road makes a sharp right turn into the small parking lot with the farm animals is on the left side at the corner. You will see a kiosk there with a map.

UpsideGood parking lot and great views. DownsideI'm spoiled and have been on some amazing trails. This is kinda boring. It was my first time because NO DOGS are allowed. I only went to take some pictures of the harbor and lighthouse and scout a future kayak trip. CommentA great trip for those with children and even the older generation. Wide, flat, short trails with a water view and farm animals...need I say more. I was there in early October and I did enjoy myself but probably not enough to go back.
