The Cumming Nature Center is a 900 acre preserve in Naples, NY. The
nature center is most often remembered for the White Pine "cathedral"
on the Beaver Trail, but there are actually five distinct trails to consider.
The Beaver trail leads out to an abandoned beaver pond where visitors
can observe the habitat that the beavers left behind. The Conservation
trail explores the many tree species of the property and passes by an old
saw mill. The Helen Gordon Trail weaves through a wetland area and has
an abundance of wildflowers in the spring. The Pioneer Trail explores the
life of "Frost Town" residents and passes by a Pioneer style cabin and the
Sugar House. And finally, the Haudenosaunee Trail tells the story of the
Seneca in the Bristol Hills. Don't miss the annual pancake breakfast in the
spring- free trail-side interpretation of the Sugaring process and tours of
the sugar house in full operation are included with the breakfast! This
center also offers 15 miles of cross country ski trails in the winter.
