This is a great State Forest - it's got a little something for everyone. There's 25 miles of trails - you can go for a 30 minute walk or spend the day exploring. There's a range of natural communities, ponds and bogs, historic manmade features , and a little visitor center with historical information. As with most of NH's forests, it gets a bit muddy and buggy in the spring, but the other 3 seasons it's a great place to play.

Directions:

Take Rte 202 to the center of Hillsborough NH and follow signs to "Fox State Forest".

Downside Wet and buggy. Comment I live next door and spend some time each day in these woods. There is a lot to see and a hike can be as much or as little as you would like. I am usually out with one of my dogs and we do not encounter much traffic on the paths. Deer flies can be too much at times but otherwise a family friendly area to hike for an hour or a day.
