This moderately steep trail goes directly to the summit or network of trails to the East of the main trail (which does not allow bikes) at the West access trailhead. Side trails include Old Mills Trail, Aspen Trail and Pine Loop. The East trailhead is separated from West by 1.2 km. This is a nice option for hiking or biking while in the Sun Peaks area northeast of Kamloops. The terrain is mountainous, higher elevation coniferous forest; less dry. Heffley Lake is directly opposite with swimming and camping opportunities.
There is GPS data attached to this trail (see "download GPS"), which if loaded into your GPS can help you find route points.
Take a kilometer reading at Heffley Creek Store (the turnoff to Sunpeaks off the Yellowhead highway north of Kamloops). The turnoff to Sunpeaks is well marked and maybe a 25-minute drive north of Kamloops. Travel 16.6 kilometers along Todd Mountain Road. The trailheads have map-boards.

UpsideVery well maintained. A variety of different levels of hiking. Not very busy and some great views along the way. DownsideIn the winter some of the parking is impossible to get to so you get stuck at the bottom walking / snowshoeing up the access road. The trails are relatively well marked but I have gotten lost here a few times due to signs pointing the wrong way (but all trails here end up either at the road or the parking lot). Depending on the route you take some of the trails are really nice while others are not great. CommentThis is one of my favorite spots near Kamloops. You can get a legitimately good workout here. We went snowshoeing this last winter and it was really nice with a nice shelter up top (but bring poles if the snow it deep because it can get pretty steep).

CommentDon't bother downloading the GPS "data" for this hike. It contains only a *single* waypoint (which is, BTW, N 50.83896, W 120.03803). Hardly worth a credit!

UpsideExcellent HIKING trail traditionally but will be degraded for walking if wheeled vehicles continue to use it. Please find another route for bikes et al... CommentThis trail was established for hiking many years ago. The route established is vulnerable to erosion. There are a multitude of alternate routes available for cyclists and designated as primarily for cyclists around Kamloops. This one is not one of them...
