Located at Elkford, BC, the Josephine Falls - Lost and Lily Lakes loop is an approx 9 km trip that will give your riding skills a bit of a test. While NTD the trail has roots etc that keep you on your toes.
Once in Elkford, stop at the tourist bureau and pick up the Hike and Bike Elkford trail map.
Once at the trailhead, proceed to the Falls which are about 2.3 km. The falls are quite impressive even in mid summer and in a dry year. From the falls you have a couple of trail options. I choose to go to Lost Lake first and then Lily and then return to the trailhead. All junctions are well marked. Recent logging activity has changed the trail from the map a bit but just follow the trail and markings and you will end up back at your car. If you have two cars and want a downhill ride you can go from Lost Lake all the way back to Elkford.
There are a number of other trails in the region. Some were closed due to the hot weather in August 2003
From Sparwood, take Highway 43 north to Elkford. At the 4 way stop turn right and drive the paved Greenhills Mine Road for 5.1 KM until you see a Forest, Falls and Lakes trails--this is your trailhead.
